LA Galaxy have confirmed the signing of former Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto on August 8, 2026. He has signed a two‑year deal with an option for a third year, the MLS club announced on Saturday.

Will Kuntz, general manager of LA Galaxy, said, "Sergi brings a combination of leadership, technical quality, tactical intelligence, and championship experience that few players have." Roberto spent 18 years at Barcelona, scoring 19 goals in 373 first‑team appearances and captaining the club in the 2023‑24 season. He won seven La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey crowns, six Spanish Super Cups, two Champions League trophies, two Club World Cups and two Super Cups, and is remembered for his 2017 goal that sealed a 6‑1 comeback over Paris Saint‑Germain.

He has earned 11 caps for Spain and will join Riqui Puig, his former Barcelona teammate, in LA. The Galaxy also completed the loan of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano from San Diego FC. Roberto’s character, positional versatility and leadership will be invaluable as he and his family settle in Los Angeles. His versatility allows him to play across midfield and defense, adding depth to the Galaxy’s roster.
