Barcelona president Joan Laporta is recovering from a heart problem after being admitted to hospital. The 64-year-old was due to travel to England for preseason preparations but had to change plans after an arrhythmia was detected. He successfully underwent a procedure to restore his heart's normal rhythm.

"Everything went well," Laporta stated on social media. "My arrhythmia has been reversed. My heart is beating rhythmically again." He expressed gratitude to the medical staff at Hospital de Barcelona, led by Dr. Jordi Morillas, as well as Barça's medical services under Dr. Xavier Corbella, and his chief of staff, Manana Giorgadze.

Laporta also thanked Dr. Valentí Fuster and his team at Mount Sinai for their advice, and Dr. Brugada for recommending the procedure. He was recently in the United States for the World Cup final. He is advised not to travel and to focus on his recovery. Laporta is in his second term as president, having returned in 2021 and being re-elected until 2031.
