In an interview with The Times, the United captain revealed he turned down a "very ambitious" offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal last summer, choosing instead to remain at the highest level and compete for silverware.

United have reached three finals without winning, but Fernandes insists simply being in the fight matters. "If I compete, I will be close to winning," he said.
