Cam Talbot, 39, made NHL history on Friday night by becoming the first goaltender to win a game with nine different franchises. In his debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Talbot stopped 20 shots and secured a 3-2 shootout victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. He stopped all three shootout attempts, surpassing the previous record shared by Curtis McElhinney, Sean Burke, and Ron Tugnutt.
Talbot, in his 13th NHL season, joined the Blue Jackets after previous stints with the New York Rangers, Edmonton, Philadelphia, Calgary, Minnesota, Ottawa, Detroit, and the Los Angeles Kings. Columbus coach Rick Bowness praised Talbot's experience and composure, stating he played outstanding for the team. The victory marked the oldest win by a goaltender in Blue Jackets franchise history.
