Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar has been suspended for two games without pay following an illegal check to the head of New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat. The incident occurred during Thursday night’s game with only 1:35 remaining, resulting in a match penalty for Nazar. The NHL announced the suspension on Friday, citing the league’s zero-tolerance policy on head injuries.
Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Nazar will forfeit $68,041 based on his average annual salary. The hit drew immediate criticism from officials and analysts alike, highlighting ongoing concerns about player safety in the NHL. Both teams are expected to address the incident in post-game statements, though no further disciplinary action has been announced.
