Rodri recently returned to England after Spain's World Cup triumph and met new City coach Enzo Maresca. Maresca remained non-committal about Rodri's future, stating, "When the transfer window is open, we can buy players, we can sell players, anything can happen." He added, "I just saw Rodri now, I gave him a big hug, he looks good. So let's see what happens."

With Bernardo Silva departing for Real Madrid and a potential deal for Tijjani Reijnders to Al Qadsiah, City aims to bolster their midfield. They have already acquired Elliot Anderson for £116 million ($154 million) and are pursuing further reinforcements, including Enzo Fernández and Ayyoub Bouaddi.
