Barcelona will increase Camp Nou's capacity to 62,652 for crucial matches after receiving council approval to open the Gol Nord stand. The Catalan club has been playing in front of capped crowds of 45,000 since returning to their renovated stadium in November, with two tiers behind one goal remaining empty.

Safety checks have now been passed, allowing 17,000 additional fans to attend upcoming LaLiga and Champions League fixtures. The expansion includes reopening the Grada d'Animació singing section in the Gol Sur, which holds around 1,200 supporters. Barcelona director Joan Sentelles emphasized the importance of these changes, calling the enhanced atmosphere a "pressure cooker" that will support the team during vital matches.

The €1.5 billion renovation project continues with the third tier still under construction. Once complete, Camp Nou will become Europe's largest stadium with capacity for approximately 105,000 supporters. The roof installation is expected to take up to four months, with full completion targeted for 2028.
