The San Jose Sharks have signed Eric Pohlkamp to a two-year, entry-level contract, solidifying their blue line with one of college hockey's brightest stars. The 22-year-old defenseman was originally selected by San Jose in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL Draft before choosing to develop at the University of Denver.

Pohlkamp's collegiate career culminated in a national championship with the Pioneers, scoring the game-winning goal in their 2-1 victory over Wisconsin. His offensive production was exceptional, leading all NCAA defensemen with 18 goals and 21 assists this season. The Hobey Baker Award finalist accumulated 40 goals and 58 assists across 119 games in Denver, showcasing his ability to contribute at both ends of the ice.

Beyond college success, Pohlkamp brings international experience from the World Junior Championships, where he tallied three points in seven games for Team USA. The Sharks recently recognized his potential by naming him their prospect of the year. His contract will cover the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons, giving San Jose a young defenseman with proven scoring ability and championship pedigree.
