The San Jose Sharks have secured forward Ty Dellandrea with a two-year, $3.25 million contract extension that runs through the 2027-28 season. The 25-year-old was set to become a free agent after this season but will now remain with the Sharks as they build for the future. Dellandrea has been a reliable two-way presence since joining San Jose before last season.

This season, Dellandrea has recorded two goals and nine assists in 42 games before suffering a lower-body injury on January 6. At the time of his injury, he led Sharks forwards in faceoff percentage at 52.3% and ranked second in hits with 117 and blocked shots with 36. His defensive contributions have made him valuable on San Jose's penalty kill unit.

A former Dallas Stars draft pick, Dellandrea has accumulated 17 goals and 44 assists across 261 career NHL games. The Sharks also bolstered their goaltending depth by recalling Laurent Brossoit from the AHL while Yaroslav Askarov recovers from a minor lower-body injury. Brossoit, who hasn't played in the NHL since the 2023-24 season, was acquired from Chicago in January.
