The Vegas Golden Knights eliminated the Anaheim Ducks with a 5-1 victory in Game 6, advancing to the Western Conference finals for the fifth time in franchise history. Mitch Marner delivered a goal and an assist, continuing his remarkable postseason run. The 29-year-old winger leads the Stanley Cup playoffs with 18 points through 12 games.

After nine postseasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he was labeled a playoff disappointment, Marner has scored seven goals in this postseason—more than he managed in his past three postseasons combined with Toronto. "It feels great to be going onto the next round with this team," Marner said. "The work now really just keeps getting harder, and we're excited for it."

The Knights will face the Colorado Avalanche, who went 8-1 in the postseason after finishing with the league's best regular-season record. Vegas's turnaround is remarkable: on March 29, they were 3-5-2 in their past 10 games and chasing a playoff berth. That's when they fired Bruce Cassidy and hired John Tortorella, who went 7-0-1 to close the regular season. Marner said Tortorella gave the team their "swagger" back at the most important time.
