The Everett Silvertips punched their ticket to the Memorial Cup championship with a commanding 6-1 victory over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Friday night. Defenseman Landon DuPont led the charge with two goals, including a power-play marker that extended Everett's lead to 5-1 in the second period. Carter Bear contributed a goal and an assist, while Jaxsin Vaughan, Zackary Shantz and Julius Miettinen rounded out the scoring attack.

Goaltender Anders Miller was sharp between the pipes, turning aside 26 shots to secure the win. The triumph sets up a championship showdown against Kitchener, who defeated Everett 6-2 in round-robin action earlier this week. Everett now has a chance to become just the fourth U.S. franchise to capture the Memorial Cup, joining Portland, Spokane and Saginaw in that exclusive club.

Chicoutimi struggled without defenseman Jordan Tourigny, suspended by the CHL for stomping on an opponent's skate earlier in the week. Tomas Lavoie scored the Sagueneens' lone goal, while Lucas Beckman and Raphael Precourt split time in net. Everett's earlier 5-3 win over Chicoutimi in the round-robin opener showed their dominance, but Sunday's final will test whether they can overcome Kitchener's recent success.

The Silvertips proved they belong on hockey's biggest junior stage, but the championship game will determine if they can join the ranks of Memorial Cup champions.
