The Houston Texans have exercised the 2027 fifth-year contract options for quarterback C. J. Stroud and defensive end Will Anderson Jr., a source told ESPN.

Stroud's extension pays him $25.9 million fully guaranteed for next season, while Anderson receives $21.5 million. Both players, entering their third NFL seasons, are now eligible for potential long-term extensions this offseason. Stroud and Anderson have become Pro Bowlers in Houston, with Anderson earning his first All-Pro selection in 2025.

Their extensions come after strong seasons: Anderson led the defense with 12 sacks and 20 tackles for loss, anchoring the league's top-scoring and total defense unit. Stroud, despite a historic rookie season, struggled to replicate his 4,000-yard output in 2025, throwing for 3,041 yards with 19 touchdowns but also 8 interceptions. The Texans' playoff run was underwhelming, highlighted by a 9-5 record in Stroud's starts but a disappointing divisional round loss to New England featuring seven turnovers.
