The Houston Texans have agreed to a historic three-year, $150 million extension with All-Pro defensive end Will Anderson Jr., making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. The deal includes $134 million in guaranteed money, surpassing the previous record held by Green Bay's Micah Parsons. Anderson, who anchored the league's No. 2 defense last season, had 12 sacks and 20 tackles for loss in 2025.

Anderson's impact extends beyond standard statistics. Among defenders with at least 150 run defensive snaps, he ranked seventh in run stop rate (12.6%), third in run stuffs (13) and second in pressures (85). The Texans allowed the second-fewest points per game (17.3) and yards per game (279) last season. Anderson's strip sack of Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs resulted in a defensive touchdown that helped secure a victory over the Steelers.

The Texans have committed to building around their young core, extending Anderson after selecting him third overall in 2023. Houston also secured edge rusher Danielle Hunter ($40 million), tight end Dalton Schultz ($12.6 million) and kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn ($13 million). Since Anderson and quarterback C.J. Stroud arrived, the Texans have gone 32-19 with two AFC South titles and three playoff victories.
