Houston Texans General Manager Nick Caserio stated there's a "possibility" of reaching a contract extension with quarterback C.J. Stroud. The team has had "productive conversations" throughout the spring regarding a deal for their Pro Bowl quarterback, whose fifth-year option for 2027 was exercised in April. Stroud, eligible for an extension since being drafted second overall in 2023, has yet to sign a new contract.

"We'll work through it and see what happens," Caserio said, indicating that negotiations could potentially extend into the regular season if a deal isn't reached during training camp. "If it doesn't happen in training camp then we'll have to make a decision on what we feel makes the most sense."

Stroud has led the Texans to two AFC South titles and playoff appearances in each of his three seasons, compiling 28 regular-season wins. This contrasts sharply with the team's record of 11-38-1 in the three seasons prior to his arrival.
