However, Wilson's late-career struggles have cast doubt on his enshrinement.

Wilson's final four seasons saw him frequently benched, with his teams going 17-27 in games he started. His completion percentage over expectation was negative three times, and he was sacked 143 times in 47 games from 2022 to 2025. He was a second-team All-Pro once and was not selected to the 2010s All-Decade team.

The Hall's Class of 2026 includes first-ballot quarterback Drew Brees, which could complicate Wilson's chances. Former selector Ron Borges noted the Hall is for the best, not the very good. Jason Cole, a selector for over a decade, believes Wilson's case rests on whether he can play his way out of the Hall.
