Massachusetts prosecutors announced Monday they will drop a domestic assault and battery charge against New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore. The 26-year-old appeared in Attleboro District Court but did not speak or answer questions from reporters. Prosecutors cited insufficient evidence to prove the case, marking a significant development in the legal proceedings.

A criminal complaint alleged Barmore took his girlfriend's phone, threw her to the floor, and grabbed her by the shirt during an August 8 argument at his Mansfield home. The woman reported the incident on August 25, nearly three weeks later, providing police with a photo showing bruising. Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III explained the decision to drop charges, noting the woman's unwillingness to travel out of state and the fact that Barmore wasn't initially arrested when the complaint was made.

Barmore's attorney, David Meier, has consistently maintained that no crime occurred, describing the incident as a personal dispute. The Patriots previously stated they were aware of the situation and had notified the NFL. With the charges dropped, Barmore can now focus on his professional career with the Patriots without the legal cloud hanging over him.
