SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers opened their offseason training program Monday with linebacker Fred Warner back at full strength. Warner suffered a season-ending right ankle injury in an Oct. 12 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, missing the final 12 games of the 2025 regular season and both playoff contests.

"I'm feeling extremely blessed, grateful to be back, feeling great and no restrictions," Warner said. He participated fully in the offseason program without limitations. In January, the Niners opened Warner's 21-day practice window, and he was a limited participant during the divisional round against Seattle.

Warner finished with 51 tackles, two for loss, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in six games last season. It marked the first time since he was drafted in 2018 that he missed more than one game. Meanwhile, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk remains in limbo as the team seeks a trade partner.

General manager John Lynch acknowledged at his pre-draft news conference that finding a trade for Aiyuk seems unlikely. "Do I think it's a high probability? Likely, no," Lynch said. "But is there a chance? Yeah." If no trade materializes during or after the draft, the 49ers likely will release Aiyuk.
