49ers' Brandon Aiyuk Faces Arrest Warrant Over Viral Speeding Video

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's office issued an arrest warrant for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on a misdemeanor charge of exhibition of speeding. The warrant stems from a December YouTube video where Aiyuk filmed himself driving a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing well over the 40 mph limit on Tasman Drive, just outside Levi's Stadium.

Aiyuk apologized shortly after posting the video, writing on YouTube that his car content wouldn't include speeding anymore and expressing concern about loved ones missing opportunities. The Santa Clara Police Department investigated the incident before forwarding the case to the DA's office on January 15. This legal issue adds to an already complicated year for the receiver.

The 49ers haven't had Aiyuk on their roster since late last season after placing him on the reserve/left squad list. They voided nearly $27 million in guaranteed money in July because he missed mandatory rehabilitation sessions for his injured right knee. General manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan indicated in January that Aiyuk had played his final snaps in San Francisco.

Since June 1 passed, the 49ers can now trade or release Aiyuk with remaining dead money spread over two years instead of just 2026. However, trade discussions have stalled. Lynch acknowledged after April's draft that there hadn't been much movement, though he emphasized Aiyuk remains an extremely talented player who could contribute elsewhere.
