Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn revealed that quarterback Jayden Daniels could see more plays under center next season as part of a strategic offensive shift. The decision came after mutually parting ways with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury following a disappointing 5-12 season.

Quinn emphasized that the new coordinator, David Blough, brings valuable experience having served as assistant quarterbacks coach for the past two years. The Commanders ran an NFL-low 192 plays with Daniels under center over the past two seasons, significantly fewer than any other team. Daniels, who threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns as a rookie while also rushing for 891 yards, will be featured in ways that highlight his unique skill set.

Daniels' 2025 season was plagued by injuries, limiting him to just seven games and forcing him to miss the final month. Despite the setbacks, Quinn stressed that Daniels remains central to the team's offensive planning. Blough's familiarity with Daniels and conviction in his fundamentals under center will drive the new approach. The Commanders aim to balance their no-huddle tendencies with more traditional formations to maximize their young quarterback's potential.
