The Los Angeles Chargers placed center Tyler Biadasz on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered an ACL tear and additional left knee damage during a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers last week. Biadasz went down after 49ers defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez fell into his leg during an 11-on-11 drill, remaining on the ground for nearly five minutes before being carted off. The 28-year-old signed a three-year, up to $30 million contract with the Chargers in March after playing for the Washington Commanders in 2025.

He started 31 games over the past two seasons with Washington and was a Pro Bowl selection following the 2022 season with the Dallas Cowboys, who drafted him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. With Biadasz out, rookie Jake Slaughter, a second-round pick who played center at Florida, will assume starting duties. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh praised Slaughter's understanding of the position, saying his mind is sharp from snap to whistle.

Biadasz had been the centerpiece of general manager Joe Hortiz's interior offensive line overhaul.
