Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid expressed optimism about tight end Travis Kelce's future with the team during a news conference ahead of the NFL combine. Reid's positive tone and demeanor suggested Kelce is leaning toward re-signing for another season rather than retiring.

Kelce, who turns 36 in October, has been in communication with the Chiefs about his status for the 2026 season. The 13-year veteran led Kansas City in targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns last season despite his age. His base salary was $4.5 million with a $12.5 million roster bonus.

Reid emphasized that as long as communication continues, he's confident about Kelce's decision. The tight end has made several public appearances since the season ended and is expected to return, which would reunite him with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Kelce has praised Bieniemy's coaching style and performed at his best under both Reid and Bieniemy during their previous tenure together from 2018 to 2022.
