Tyler Herro said he isn’t worried about his contract and is ‘focused on winning’ after joining his hometown team. The 26‑year‑old, a Milwaukee‑area native who graduated from Whitnall High School in Greenfield, was acquired in the trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. He has one year left on his contract and could become a free agent after the 2026‑27 season if he doesn’t get an extension.

Herro’s future has been hotly speculated since the June trade announcement. The Bucks also added Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis and draft capital that included the rights to 2026 No. 13 pick Nate Ament. Milwaukee’s roster is already back‑court heavy, with the draft’s Brayden Burries and returning scorers Kevin Porter Jr. (17.4 ppg) and Ryan Rollins (17.3 ppg). Herro, who missed 33 games last season due to injuries, has averaged over 20 points for the past five seasons and was an All‑Star in 2025.

Herro said he has a “biggest chip on his shoulder” coming to Milwaukee and that the whole team shares that drive. “We want to win as many games as possible and set a culture from day one,” he told a youth camp. He also recalled rooting for the Bucks growing up, naming T.J. Ford—now an assistant coach on Taylor Jenkins’s staff—as a childhood idol.
