New Washington Wizards guard Trae Young will miss action through the mid-February All-Star break as he continues recovering from MCL and quad injuries on his right leg. The team is taking a cautious approach with their recent trade acquisition, sources told ESPN. Young was dealt from the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert.

Young, an All-NBA selection in 2021-22, averaged 19.3 points and 8.9 assists in 10 games for Atlanta this season. The Wizards are hoping his elite playmaking can revitalize an offense that has struggled. Washington currently sits 14th in the Eastern Conference with a 10-28 record, having lost three straight games.

This move signals a rebuilding phase for the Wizards, who haven't made the playoffs since 2021. Young has a history of high production, leading the league in assists last season with 11.6 per game. Fans will have to wait until after the mid-February break to see him debut.
