Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged uncertainty about his future with the franchise following their elimination from the play-in tournament. After the Warriors' 111-96 loss to the Phoenix Suns in Phoenix, Kerr said he would take time to contemplate whether to return for a 13th season.

Kerr, whose contract expires this summer, intentionally avoided seeking an extension before the season and held off on discussing his future until after elimination. The 12-year veteran coach has led the Warriors to four NBA championships, including their first in 2015 during his debut season. However, Golden State has struggled in recent years, winning 37-48 games since their 2022 title and failing to advance past the second round.

With Steph Curry entering the final year of his $62.6 million contract and Draymond Green holding a $27.6 million player option, the Warriors face significant roster decisions alongside Kerr's future. Curry expressed hope that Kerr would remain coach but emphasized that the decision ultimately rests with him. Kerr indicated he would have conversations with Curry and management in the coming days, stating that his partnership with the star guard would influence his decision. The veteran coach emphasized that he would not coach elsewhere if he leaves Golden State.
