Pistons’ four-game skid drops lead in East

Detroit’s slide hit a new low Sunday as the Pistons fell 121-110 to the Miami Heat, extending their four-game losing streak. The defeat trimmed their cushion over Boston to just 2½ games after a stretch that once saw them five and a half games clear at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Coach J.B. Bickerstaff shrugged off panic, reminding the squad that the NBA’s 82‑game grind inevitably produces rough patches. Veteran forward Tobias Harris echoed the sentiment, calling the run “our biggest dose of adversity.” Three of the four losses came against playoff‑bound foes—Cleveland, San Antonio and Miami—while Brooklyn was the lone outlier.

The Pistons’ resurgence is remarkable after a 14‑68 season just two years ago. This campaign they have already logged 45 wins with 19 games remaining, a stark contrast to the rebuilding years. Young core Cade Cunningham and rookie Jalen Duren combined for 50 points on Sunday, underscoring the offensive spark driving Detroit’s climb.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra praised the Pistons’ culture, noting that Cunningham and Duren “are wired a little differently” than typical youngsters. Harris added that the locker room maintains a serious, win‑first mindset despite the slump. Detroit will look to snap the streak in its next outing, aiming to reclaim the East’s top spot.
