Kyle Lowry fulfilled a long-held promise by signing a one-day ceremonial contract with the Toronto Raptors to officially retire as a member of the franchise he led to the 2019 NBA championship. The 40-year-old guard, a six-time All-Star during his Raptors tenure, announced his retirement on social media on July 7, a date referencing his iconic No. 7 jersey.

Lowry's career spanned 20 seasons, a mark shared by only a handful of NBA players, including Chris Paul. He concluded his playing days with the Philadelphia 76ers, appearing in 14 games last season. Throughout his 1,187 regular-season games, Lowry averaged 13.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists, and ranks 14th all-time with 2,209 made three-pointers.

The Philadelphia native also enjoyed a decorated international career, winning an Olympic gold medal in 2016. Lowry's retirement marks the end of an era for Raptors fans, who affectionately label him the "Greatest Raptor of All-Time." He also enters a new phase of his career, having been announced as an analyst for Prime Video.
