The New York Knicks remain tight-lipped about center Mitchell Robinson's availability for Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. The 7-foot Robinson underwent surgery last week for a broken pinkie finger on his right hand, creating uncertainty for the series opener at Frost Bank Center on Wednesday. His potential absence looms large for the Knicks seeking their first championship since 1973.

Robinson participated in light shooting and dribbling drills during Tuesday's open practice, wearing a black wrap over his shooting hand and wrist. Coach Mike Brown wouldn't confirm how Robinson will be listed on the official injury report. ESPN's Shams Charania reported Robinson remains "resolute" in his desire to play, though he must be cleared by the team's medical staff before taking the court.

Robinson has appeared in 13 of the Knicks' 14 playoff games this year, averaging 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in 14.2 minutes off the bench. He played a key role in New York's NBA Cup championship victory over the Spurs in December with 15 rebounds. The Knicks face a critical decision regarding Robinson's health as they pursue their first Finals title since 1999.
