LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard had an undisclosed sponsorship agreement with Daktronics, the company that designed the videoboard inside Intuit Dome, according to a report by former ESPN contributor Pablo Torre. Torre cited an anonymous high-level source who alleged the deal was "1,000% a way to circumvent the salary cap," funneling money from the Clippers through Daktronics back to Leonard. A former Clippers official confirmed awareness of the sponsorship, which involved Daktronics creating "The Halo Board" at the $2 billion Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

A Daktronics spokesperson told Hunterbrook Media that Leonard does not have an active contract with the company, adding uncertainty about what the firm can disclose given the ongoing Wachtell investigation. The NBA launched its investigation into the Clippers and Leonard in September following Torre's reporting on internal documents showing Clippers owner Steve Ballmer invested $50 million in Aspiration through his personal LLC in September 2021. That same month, the Clippers signed a 23-year, $300 million deal with Aspiration, making it the "first founding partner" of Intuit Dome.

Six months later, Aspiration signed its $28 million endorsement deal with Leonard. The Clippers have denied funneling money through Aspiration to compensate Leonard, with Ballmer claiming he was "flagrantly defrauded" and lost his entire $60 million investment. Aspiration co-founder Joseph Sanberg was sentenced in June to 14 years in federal prison for defrauding investors out of $248 million.
