Veteran big man Al Horford confirmed he will rejoin the Golden State Warriors for the 2026‑27 campaign. At 40, he is declining a $6 million player option and targeting a two‑year, $14 million fully guaranteed deal that includes a trade kicker. The contract would make him the 13th player in NBA history to reach a 20th season.

Horford spent last season in Bay Area after a four‑year stint with Boston that produced a 2024 championship. Injuries to Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry derailed the Warriors, leaving them 37‑45 and a 10th‑seed finish, with Horford contributing four fourth‑quarter threes in the play‑in win over LA. He appeared in 45 games, missing time with sciatica and a calf strain.

To safeguard his body, Horford will train with the Warriors’ medical staff, led by Rick Celebrini, throughout the offseason in San Francisco and skip Dominican national team duties. The franchise also eyes a short‑term deal for Kristaps Porzingis and expects Draymond Green to exercise his $27.6 million option. If health returns, the veteran hopes his experience will push the squad beyond a play‑in berth ultimately.
