Ben Simmons is intensifying his training for a potential NBA comeback after sitting out the entire 2025-26 season. The former No. 1 overall pick last appeared in an NBA game with the LA Clippers during the 2024-25 campaign, averaging just 2.9 points in 18 appearances before stepping away to reassess his career.

Simmons told Men's Health that he needed time to 'find himself again' and get healthy, emphasizing that his love for basketball remains unwavering. The 29-year-old, who turns 30 in July, has been in contact with coaches who believe he can contribute if he proves his fitness. He mentioned possible returns to Philadelphia or joining Miami, citing his respect for Erik Spoelstra and the Heat's culture.

Once a three-time All-Star and 2017-18 Rookie of the Year, Simmons has battled injuries throughout his career, including missing the entire 2021-22 season due to a holdout and back issues. His career averages of 13.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.2 assists demonstrate his playmaking ability when healthy. The Brooklyn Nets acquired him during that 2021-22 season before his brief Clippers stint.

Simmons' comeback attempt represents a significant risk for whichever team takes a chance on him, given his injury history and declining production. However, his defensive prowess as a two-time All-Defensive selection and natural playmaking skills could still appeal to contending teams seeking veteran depth.
