Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo earned the NBA's Social Justice Champion award Friday, receiving the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy for his extensive community work. The league will donate $100,000 to charity in his honor. Adebayo's foundation poured $563,000 into 18 initiatives this season, focusing on educational equity, food security and youth development across South Florida and North Carolina.

His programs provided mattresses, uniforms and supplies for students at The SEED School of Miami, funded transportation for 19,000 attendees at the Miami Book Fair, and organized holiday meal distributions. A toy drive served over 2,000 children, with leftovers shared across local organizations. Adebayo also renovated a basketball court at Camillus House Homeless Shelter.

The Heat star joins previous winners including Jrue Holiday, Stephen Curry and Carmelo Anthony. Finalists this year included Harrison Barnes, Jaylen Brown, Tobias Harris and Larry Nance Jr. The award committee featured Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jayson Tatum and civil rights leaders.

This recognition validates Adebayo's commitment to creating tangible change in underserved communities, extending his impact beyond basketball excellence.
