Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo delivered a historic performance Tuesday night, scoring 31 points in the opening quarter against the Washington Wizards and finishing the first half with 43 points - both franchise records. Adebayo's explosive scoring spree saw him tie the Heat's single-half record before halftime even began.

His 31-point quarter was the NBA's highest-scoring quarter since Karl-Anthony Towns' 32-point third quarter in 2022. Adebayo's first-half outburst surpassed his previous career high of 41 points, which had come in a full game back in 2021 against Brooklyn. He shot 13-of-24 from the field, 12-of-14 from the free-throw line, and 5-of-11 from three-point range.

Adebayo joined elite company with his performance, becoming the first player since Kobe Bryant in 2006 to record at least 12 field goals, 12 free throws, and five three-pointers in a half. His 43-point half ranks as the NBA's second-best in at least 30 seasons, trailing only Karl-Anthony Towns' 44-point half in 2024.
