The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Everson Pereira on the 10-day injured list retroactive to Thursday with a left ankle sprain suffered Wednesday at Miami. The 24-year-old, in his first season with Chicago, batted .250 with one home run and three RBIs over five games before the injury. The team made the move before Sunday's game against Toronto.

Infielder Tanner Murray was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte to replace Pereira. The 26-year-old was hitting .304 with two homers and seven RBIs in six games with Charlotte, though he has yet to make his major league debut. Murray joined the organization this past November when Chicago acquired him alongside Pereira from Tampa Bay in exchange for right-handed pitchers Yoendrys Gómez and Steven Wilson.

The White Sox look to sweep Toronto for the first time in a decade while starting 3-0 at home for the first time since 2004. With Pereira sidelined, Murray provides additional depth to Chicago's roster as they pursue early-season success. The injury creates an opportunity for the young infielder to prove his worth at the major league level.
