Twins Rule Out Trading Byron Buxton Before Deadline

The Minnesota Twins have no plans to trade Byron Buxton ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline, general manager Jeremy Zoll confirmed Tuesday. Zoll stated the team is not exploring deals for the All-Star outfielder, who has spent his entire 12-year career in Minnesota and recently reiterated he's 'a Twin.'

Buxton carries a full no-trade clause and has two years remaining on his seven-year, $100 million contract signed in December 2021. Despite the Twins sitting below .500 this season, his value remains high - he entered Tuesday tied for second in MLB with 25 home runs and posted career-best 35 homers and 83 RBIs last year.

The 32-year-old outfielder has been clear about his intentions, telling The Athletic that nobody can say anything about his future plans. 'I'm a Twin' he said, making it explicit he has no desire to waive his no-trade rights. With the Twins seemingly content to build around him, Buxton's strong season keeps him as one of the most attractive names in this summer's market.
