Toronto’s George Springer launched his 65th leadoff home run on the third pitch, ending Pittsburgh pitcher Paul Skenes’ 15‑inning road scoreless streak. The Blue Jays routed the Pirates 5‑2, marking the first back‑to‑back defeats for Skenes this season and the Jays’ fourth straight win early in Saturday night.

Skenes, 6‑4 and the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, surrendered four runs and a career‑high nine hits over five-plus innings. His ERA rose to 3.00, and he exited after a string of four straight hits in the sixth. The loss dents his otherwise spotless AL streak since the opening of the season.

Patrick Corbin chipped in six innings, allowing one run and five hits while striking out seven, his season high. Jeff Hoffman closed the game by striking out the side in the ninth for his fifth save in eight chances. Pirates’ coach Bill Murphy and manager Don Kelly were ejected during the sixth inning of the game.

Springer’s power launch snapped Skenes’ 15‑inning road scoreless run, a streak that had begun a career‑long AL run‑stopped spell. With the Jays now 7‑3 in ten games, Pittsburgh faces a sharp swing in confidence as the season edges toward the playoff cut line for the hitters’ season at this point.
