Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, 36, announced this is likely his final NFL season. Johnson missed recent practices for personal reasons, citing family health concerns and shifting priorities as motivation for retirement after 2026, his 14th year in the league.

"As you get older, things change in your life, priorities," Johnson said. "Your children get older, your parents get older, it just puts things into perspective." His mother's health struggles and his oldest child turning 13 influenced his decision, though he remains committed to the Eagles.

A Hall of Fame candidate, Johnson was selected fourth overall in 2013. He earned six Pro Bowl selections and two first-team All-Pro honors while helping the Eagles win both Super Bowl championships in franchise history. He missed the final eight games of 2025 with a Lisfranc injury.

Johnson discussed retirement with family last year and told teammates this will be his last season, putting him "at ease." Despite his age, he feels capable of being a "premier tackle" and plans to focus on staying healthy during his farewell campaign.
