Rangers Lose Leiter and Seager to Injuries

Texas Rangers right-hander Jack Leiter is now on the 15-day injured list with right ankle posterior impingement. Chris Young noted that Leiter tried to pitch through the pain, but his mechanics suffered. This struggle peaked in June, where he posted a 9.88 ERA across three starts, including a poor outing against the Minnesota Twins.

Leiter first aggravated the ankle on April 22 after slipping in the on-deck circle during a game against the New York Yankees. His season record sits at 3-7 with a 5.29 ERA. To fill the void, Texas recalled Jose Corniell from Triple-A Round Rock, though the team has not named a Tuesday starter for the Miami game.

Meanwhile, star shortstop Corey Seager remains out while completing concussion protocols. He is hitting .186 with nine homers and 24 RBIs this season. While Seager will join the upcoming 10-game road trip through Miami, Toronto, and Cleveland, Skip Schumaker describes his return as day to day following a mid-May back injury that sidelined him for 19 games.

These losses strip the roster of a future rotation piece and its most decorated hitter. Texas must now rely on depth as Seager struggles with the worst slump of his career. The team faces a difficult stretch without its offensive anchor in the lineup.
