Rangers Rejoin Seager, Freeman Heads to Injured List

The Texas Rangers reinstated shortstop Corey Seager from the concussion list Thursday, ending his 12-game absence ahead of their series opener in Toronto. Seager slotted into the third spot in the lineup, providing a needed boost to a struggling offense that has managed just a .186 average from him in 47 games this season.

The injury stemmed from a collision with Kansas City catcher Carter Jensen on June 11, though Seager remarkably stayed in that game and homered afterward. This marked his second significant health setback this year after missing 19 games in May and early June with back inflammation. His limited production—nine homers and 24 RBI—reflects the interrupted playing time.

Utility player Cody Freeman exited the roster with a herniated disk, landing on the 10-day injured list. The Rangers also cut ties with infielder Blaine Crim, who posted a .263 average in 21 Triple-A games following his May 23 acquisition from Colorado via waivers.

Seager's return gives Texas their premier bat back during a critical stretch of 15 consecutive games. However, his recent injury pattern raises concerns about durability as the Rangers chase playoff positioning in the competitive AL West race.
