Jacob deGrom, 38-year-old, left Thursday night's start against the Los Angeles Angels after two innings due to right triceps fatigue. He will undergo an MRI on Friday. "I'm not too concerned," deGrom said after a 7-0 loss. "I hope I'll make my next [start]."

The right-hander, dealing with a left hip and glute injury since the All-Star break, gave up two runs and five hits in 32 pitches during the second inning. Skip Schumaker, Rangers manager, stated, "We won't risk it once we hear it's the triceps." DeGrom's exit raises concerns as the Rangers already have Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day injured list.

DeGrom, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, has struggled this season, allowing 10 earned runs in three starts against the Angels. His 2,000 strikeout milestone is within reach, needing two more. Despite past dominance (2.53 ERA from 2017-2019), injuries have sidelined him since 2021. Schumaker noted, "Our starting pitching has taken a hit; it's never easy when your No. 1 and No. 2 guys are down."

DeGrom expressed disappointment, acknowledging he couldn't complete the start. He emphasized, "We'll see how it is tomorrow."
