Boston Red Sox pitcher Ranger Suárez has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left groin strain, ruling him out of next week's All-Star Game. The IL stint, retroactive to Monday, follows an injury sustained during Sunday's win over the Angels. Suárez, in his first season with the Red Sox after signing a $130 million, five-year contract, is 4-3 with a 3.15 ERA in 17 starts.

Interim manager Chad Tracy cited lingering soreness and tightness as reasons for not rushing Suárez back, potentially impacting his next scheduled start against the Mets. The team is exploring options for that start, including a bullpen game or calling up Brayan Bello. Suárez, who was also an All-Star in 2024 but missed it due to back stiffness, expressed disappointment but prioritized his health.

Meanwhile, designated hitter Willson Contreras is day-to-day with a bruised left foot, though his seven-game suspension was reduced to five, allowing him to participate in the All-Star festivities. Infielder Brett Harris was recalled from Triple-A Worcester and started at first base. The Red Sox entered Thursday having won five in a row and 10 of 12.
