The Chicago White Sox placed reliever Huascar Brazoban on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a left lat strain. The 36-year-old right-hander was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, while Jonathan Cannon was called up to replace him. Brazoban, acquired in a trade with the New York Mets on Aug. 3, has a 6.30 ERA in 10 appearances for Chicago. He pitched one inning in Monday's 11-2 loss to Texas, allowing one run and one hit.

Cannon, 26, is 5-6 with a 5.18 ERA in 17 starts and five relief appearances for Charlotte this season. He last appeared for Chicago on April 12 at Kansas City, walking three and allowing a run without recording an out. The White Sox also placed outfielder Andrew Benintendi on the bereavement/family medical emergency list before their game against the Texas Rangers. Infielder/outfielder Rikuu Nishida was recalled from Charlotte.

Benintendi, 32, is batting .244 with 13 homers and 65 RBIs in 116 games this season.
