Pirates Lose Spencer Horwitz to Hamstring Injury

Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Spencer Horwitz is out of the lineup after suffering a left hamstring strain. He felt a grabbing sensation in his leg while grounding into a double play during the third inning of a game on Wednesday. This injury occurred during a dominant 11-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

Horwitz leaves the field with a solid stat line, hitting .280 with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs across 74 games. The team placed him on the 10-day injured list on Thursday. His absence removes a consistent offensive threat from the middle of the order during a three-game series.

To fill the gap, the Pirates recalled 25-year-old infielder Jack Brannigan from Double-A Altoona. Brannigan, a former third-round pick from Notre Dame, is making his first attempt to break into the big leagues. He joins the roster as the club finishes its series against Seattle in Pittsburgh.
