Pirates-Guardians Game Postponed Over Air Quality

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Guardians game scheduled for Friday night in Cleveland was postponed due to air quality concerns stemming from wildfire smoke originating in Canada and northern Minnesota. The smoke has created heavy, pungent conditions, darkening skies across the Great Lakes region and parts of the East Coast, reducing visibility and issuing warnings about the dangers of outdoor exposure.

Northeast Ohio has experienced smoky and hazy skies for the past two days. As a result, a split doubleheader has been scheduled for Saturday, with the first game set to begin at 1:10 p.m. ET and the second at 7:10 p.m. ET. This postponement impacted the major league schedule following the All-Star break.

In a separate, earlier event, a game between the Mets and Phillies in Philadelphia on Thursday night was moved to 6:10 p.m. ET from its original 7:10 p.m. ET start time, also amidst air quality advisories.
