Phillies' Johan Rojas Suffers UCL Tear, Out for 2026 Season

Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, requiring surgery. The 25-year-old was nearing the end of his 80-game suspension for a Boldenone positive test and had been targeting a June 25 return to the club.

Rojas struggled in his limited 2025 action, hitting just .224 with one homer and 18 RBIs before being demoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in early August. His spring training performance this year showed little improvement at 3-for-15 with one RBI. Over his career, he carries a .252 average with six homers and 51 stolen bases across 250 games.

The injury compounds a difficult period for the Phillies outfield depth. Rojas now shifts focus to rehabilitation and being prepared for spring training in 2027. His absence removes a potential option during a season where Philadelphia needs healthy bodies in their outfield rotation.

For the Phillies, this eliminates any chance of Rojas contributing this season while he recovers from both suspension and significant elbow surgery. The organization must address outfield depth through other means.
