New York Mets pitcher Nolan McLean's arrival at World Baseball Classic training camp has been delayed due to vertigo-like symptoms, though he remains optimistic about joining Team USA later this week. McLean, who is scheduled to start Game 4 against Italy, told reporters Tuesday that he's been feeling better after experiencing symptoms last week.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said McLean began developing vertigo and loss of appetite on Friday night, preventing him from reporting to Team USA's camp in Scottsdale, Arizona. Instead, he remained with the Mets in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he started feeling better Saturday. He pitched on the side Sunday and is scheduled to throw again Wednesday.

Team USA manager Mark DeRosa is taking a day-to-day approach to McLean's situation, while the pitching rotation for the tournament's opening games is set. San Francisco Giants ace Logan Webb will start Game 1 against Brazil, followed by Tarik Skubal versus Britain and Paul Skenes against Mexico. McLean's potential availability for Game 4 remains uncertain as he continues his recovery.
