Mets first baseman Jared Young was carted off the field Thursday night after a scary collision with pitcher Nolan Mc Lean during the sixth inning against Philadelphia. The two converged on Justin Crawford's slow grounder when Mc Lean accidentally struck Young on the head. Young fell face-first and was motionless before trainers and manager Andy Green rushed out.

He was immobilized on a cart, gave a thumbs-up, and taken to a local hospital. The team reported he has feeling in his extremities, a negative CT scan, and concussion symptoms. The 31-year-old, in his first full big league season, is hitting .266 with nine homers and 39 RBIs in 103 games after missing six weeks with a left knee injury.

Teammates including catcher Francisco Alvarez appeared to pray, and players from both teams looked on as Young left the field.
