The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with veteran slugger Marcell Ozuna, sources confirmed to ESPN. The contract, first reported by the New York Post, includes a mutual option for 2027 and will pay Ozuna $10.5 million in 2026 with a $16 million option for the following season.

Ozuna, 35, joins a Pirates team that finished last in MLB with just 117 home runs last season. The Pirates hope the three-time All-Star can bolster their left-handed heavy lineup alongside Brandon Lowe, Ryan O'Hearn, and Oneil Cruz. His arrival may signal the end of Andrew McCutchen's tenure in Pittsburgh, as the longtime franchise cornerstone remains unsigned after serving as the team's primary designated hitter in 2025.

Despite a down year with the Braves, where he hit 21 homers and posted a .756 OPS, Ozuna brings significant power to Pittsburgh. He hit 148 homers with Atlanta since 2020, ranking 18th in baseball during that span. However, PNC Park has historically been challenging for right-handed hitters like Ozuna, who owns a .225 career average with just one homer in 36 games at the venue.

Quick Fact: Ozuna posted a career-high 1.067 OPS when he signed with the Braves as a free agent in 2020.
