O'Hearn's third-inning grand slam extended the Pirates' lead to 7-1. Rookie home runs from Esmerlyn Valdez and Shawn Ross also contributed. This was O'Hearn's fourth career grand slam and his 17th home run of the season, matching his career high. Cubs pitcher Jameson Taillon (2-6) struggled, giving up seven runs in four innings.
