New York Mets first baseman Jared Young will miss the rest of the season due to a concussion from a collision with teammate Nolan Mc Lean. The incident occurred when Young tried to field a ground ball and was struck in the head by Mc Lean's knee. Young was hospitalized overnight but discharged Friday and is recovering at home with headache and memory loss.

Mets interim manager Andy Green expressed optimism about Young's recovery and return to play, noting all tests were positive and there are no long-term concerns. Young, 31, was in his first full big league season, hitting .266 with nine homers and 39 RBIs in 103 games after returning from a six-week left knee injury. To replace him, the Mets plan to recall Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse, while Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, and Christopher Morel will share first base duties.

Green confirmed Young had his first follow-up doctor's appointment Friday and remains in good spirits.
