Diamondbacks' Lawlar fractures wrist

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jordan Lawlar landed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a fractured right wrist. The 23-year-old suffered the injury during Thursday's 17-2 loss to Atlanta when Osvaldo Bido's pitch struck his wrist. Lawlar had just launched his first career homer in the third inning before the painful seventh-inning incident ended his night.

Lawlar remained in the game briefly after being hit, running the bases before exiting for a defensive replacement in the eighth. Considered one of Arizona's top young talents, Lawlar showed promise early this season with six hits in his first 18 at-bats, raising expectations for a potential breakout campaign before the injury.

The D-backs responded by calling up catcher Adrian Del Castillo to replace Lawlar on the roster. Arizona also made room by promoting right-hander Taylor Rashi and designating veteran right-hander Joe Ross for assignment. The roster move creates an immediate hole in the outfield for a team already struggling offensively.
